Nestle Team Challenge

9th April 2009

Latest mass crossing - Team Nestle!

Hello, I was one of a group of 28 people who completed this wonderful challenge we ranged from experienced cyclists 2 completed this challenge in 1 day (10 hours) 14 in 2 days and 12 in 3 days. i was in the 3 day group - being the oldest at only 52!! we also had a younger chap in our group who weighed in at 23 stone! and 2 young ladies in their 20's who both only started cycling 6 months ago one of these amazingly never walked up any part of this trip quite a feat in its own she came into tynemouth 2nd in our group the other young lady lucy her furthest cycle ride had been 12.5 miles only and she completed the course in determined fashion i managed to come in 3rd averaging 10.6 mph top speed of 44.8 mph a cycling time of 15.7 hoursand a total distance from whitehaven to tynemouth of 160.6 miles - yes we had a slight detour took the wrong direction at stanhope instead of turning left we followed the sign directing us straight forward heading to crook! so we battled on and our route back took us passed "the angel of the north" (attached photos of Nick,(in royal blue) ron and myself(fluorescent top).
moral of my story "dont follow us we could be lost but you will see things that others may not!!
we all absolutely loved the camaraderie, the beautiful scenery even the battle against the elements to conquer hartside and would recommend it to anyone !
thanks very much
